Baoguo Temple

Baoguo Temple is now the oldest and most completely preserved wooden Buddhist building south of the Yangtze River. As recorded by Ningbo Municipal Chronicle, Baoguo Temple was originally built in East Han Dynasty(25-220 A.D.), but destroyed later. It was not until the year 880 that the temple was reconstructed and renamed Baoguo Temple. The present palace was rebuilt in 1013. With a unique design and impressive vigor, Baoguo Temple is listed among the wonders of Chinese architectural civilization, and assumes high historic, artistic and scientific values.
